In Hollywood, Horror is making a comeback. Exhibit A: Obsession and Backrooms.
The truth is, it never went away. The iconic horror film Carrie was released in 1976. Horror has always been here.
My first swing at writing horror was years ago when I posted short stories on the Reddit horror forum r/nosleep. My favorite story got picked up by an influencer with millions of followers who narrated it on TikTok while putting on makeup. Below are comments from when she posted it as a 3-part series.
The story is about an aggrieved daughter who seeks revenge on her mother’s psychologist, only to discover she’s dealing with a dangerous imposter.
I adapted it into a film and thought about turning it into a novel. Even wrote the first few chapters. Alas, other projects took me in a different direction. But now, I’m having another look at it.
I’ve been inspired by this horror short story that never sold ten years ago but was recently sold as a package for 25 million dollars !
I’ve also noticed that as I’ve been adapting my novella, BROKEN THREADS, into a vertical, my creativity is flowing in a way it hasn’t for a while. I wrote about feeling creatively stuck in a previous post.
